Unfortunately, Linda is no longer seeing children or teens
due to large case load.
However, she is offering coaching sessions for parents with children and teens struggling with developmental, emotional and/or behavioral challenges.
Imagine what it would be like being in safe and wonderful place that makes you feel relaxed and
happy, capable of being all you were meant to be...
Various types of individual services are provided for children and teens including solution-focused techniques that emphasize positive traits and skills with specific, realistic goals, parent- coaching, integrative imaginative play, cognitive behavioral strategies that present other essential perspectives clinical and/or conversational hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programing (NLP) techniques and empowering language patterns. When the child is present, I do not discuss their issues from the perspective of "problems", but rather skills. This approach is unique among therapists. A big part helping children is offering services to parents, to educate and assist with parenting strategies. At times, it is best to work with the parent only. Connections with schools are often included.
All services are provided within a nurturing, kid-friendly environment, allowing a child to see their greater strengths, making them feel empowered and capable as their young minds and bodies begin to connect in more healthy ways. Parents are typically present in sessions as a family approach is utilized. Art, music, games or crafts may be integrated into the sessions, if the children are responsive to creative arts. Parent coaching is typically applied, as children are part of a family system.
Imaginative hypnotherapy is optional. It can be offered in conversational format, or integrated into relaxation techniques. Hypnosis embraces creative and positive visualizations, along with meaningful, playful metaphor and engagement in imaginative play that can transform a child's way of thinking and seeing their world from a renewed perspective, dissolving old ineffective patterns of behavior. Hypnotherapy naturally integrates positive messages of strength and competence into imaginative stories that the children help create. Children remain conscious and aware at all times, and fully engaged during the entire session. Children leave their sessions feeling strengthened by what they were able to accomplish vicariously, with good feelings and behaviors that easily transfer into everyday life.
Interestingly, children naturally fall into light hypnotic or trance-like states all the time, especially while watching movies, reading or listening to captivating stories, or engaging in imaginative play. The experience of anxiety is also a hypnotic state. Kids believe in the world of imagination, experiencing their mental creations with thin boundaries between the imagined and the real. As the hypnotherapist/counselor taps into their rich inner imagery, children can make positive and lasting change while playing or relaxing.
Hypnotherapy for children is especially effective for the following:
